GlobalFoundries Inc. and ST may Cooperate to Build Wafer Fab in France

        According to Le Figaro, the investment was announced on Monday at the fifth "Choose France" summit between GlobalFoundries Inc. and STMicroelectronics.
        STMicroelectronics had no comment. GlobalFoundries Inc. did not comment.
        A month ago, foreign media reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, that GlobalFoundries Inc. and STMicroelectronics were discussing building a joint fab in France with the support of government funding. According to the report, the two companies would help support the European Commission's goal of promoting the production of 20 percent of the world's microchips by 2030.
