January 12, 2012 - MediaTek announced that it will further deepen its long-term partnership with Hisense. Hisense is the first to adopt MediaTek's Pentonic smart TV chip, which significantly improves the picture quality of streaming content. Starting in 2024, MediaTek AI Super Resolution (AI-SR) technology will be applied to Hisense's full range of Smart TV products.

Regardless of a smart TV's screen resolution, unstable network transmission rates can affect the picture quality of streaming content, which is addressed by MediaTek AI Super Resolution technology that seamlessly upgrades content streams to deliver a 4K high-quality experience, even when the original content resolution is only FHD. MediaTek AI Super Resolution automatically removes compression distortion and recovers lost details through intelligent image analysis.         MediaTek AI Super Resolution intelligently upscales content from FHD and UHD resolutions to 4K, matching the native resolution of the smart TV screen and supporting cloud gaming applications. In addition, MediaTek AI Super Resolution Technology also supports latency compensation, allowing gamers to experience the thrill of low latency while enjoying high quality games.
With MediaTek's advanced chip technology, combined with the outstanding AI Super Resolution technology of the Pentonic series chips, and Hisense's new picture quality technology developed to support the AI Super Resolution technology, we are making immersive cinema-quality entertainment experience within reach," said John Chen, general manager of MediaTek's TV business unit. The MediaTek Pentonic Series will help smart TV manufacturers around the world bring AI Super Resolution technology to the next generation of 8K and 4K smart TVs."
Doug Kern, Director of Product Marketing, Hisense (USA), said, "Partnering with an industry giant like MediaTek will help Hisense usher in a new era of TV content innovation. Hisense's commitment to delivering superior performance, quality and value to our customers will continue to drive us forward. By introducing advanced AI Super Resolution technology to our entire 144Hz TV lineup, we will set a new benchmark for the visual experience."
