Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has announced the launch of its new PSoC™ microcontroller (MCU) product family,  PSoC™ Edge. The PSoC™ portfolio is Infineon's high-performance and low-power secure devices built on the Arm® Cortex® core. The PSoC Edge is designed for a new generation of real-time responsive computing and control applications and provides hardware-assisted machine learning (ML) acceleration. This new MCU product family delivers a higher level of end-user experience by lowering the design threshold for human-computer interaction and adding situational awareness to end-applications, making them smarter and more intuitive to use. At the same time, they provide strong privacy and security protection through the built-in Infineon Edge Protect embedded technology.

Steve Tateosian, Senior Vice President of Microcontroller Product Lines at Infineon Technologies, said: " Infineon has introduced a new PSoC Edge product family based on years of experience in delivering solutions. This experience comes from Infineon's use of MCUs to build highly practical and powerful systems that enable intelligent control of, interaction with, and connectivity to the world. pSoC Edge offers dynamically tunable power and performance modes that enable emerging AI/ML requirements, rich HMI (human-machine interaction) functionality, and security features for a new generation of applications. And it offers a deep ecosystem of software and tools to support user project development."
The PSoC Edge MCUs are powered by the high-performance Arm Cortex-M55 core and include the Helium™ DSP-enhanced instruction set, Arm Ethos-U55, Cortex-M33, and Infineon's ultra-low-power NNLite, a proprietary hardware gas pedal for accelerating neural network operations in machine learning and AI applications. The products support "always-on" sensing and response capabilities for smart home, security, wearables, robotics and many other advanced IoT and industrial applications. The series also features ample on-chip storage resources, including non-volatile RRAM, and high-speed, secure external memory support. the PSoC Edge family brings a wealth of scalability to increasingly complex next-generation smart systems, while enabling software reuse and portability.
The PSoC Edge family of microcontrollers is smarter than ever before, extending the existing PSoC portfolio with more support for advanced graphics, voice, audio and vision applications. This new product enables easy porting of applications and upgrades to existing designs within the same semiconductor family.
Supported by a range of enabling technologies, developers can leverage the power of PSoC Edge to meet current and future design needs. With a strong ecosystem of partners, comprehensive documentation and industry-recognized ModusToolbox™ software, including integration with the Imagimob Studio AI solution, PSoC Edge accelerates time-to-market.
