Samsung Electronics develops its first CXL DRAM with CXL 2.0 support

        Following the development of the first CXL DRAM (memory expander) based on CXL 1.1 in May 2022, Samsung Electronics continues to launch a 128GB CXL DRAM with CXL 2.0 support, which is expected to accelerate the commercialisation of next-generation storage solutions. The solution supports PCIe 5.0 (x8 lanes) and offers up to 35GB/s bandwidth.
 
 
        CXL is a technology developed by Intel, AMD and others that supports memory sharing and cache sharing for use in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, high performance computing and more.
        CXL 2.0 is the first Samsung product to support memory pooling. Pooling is a memory management technology that binds multiple blocks of CXL memory on a server platform together to form a memory pool, enabling multiple hosts to dynamically allocate memory from the pool as needed. Samsung Electronics plans to start mass production of CXL 2.0 DRAM by the end of this year and is preparing to launch a wide range of capacities.
