TSMC's 3nm process, which still uses a finned field-effect transistor architecture, began commercial production on December 29 last year, nearly half a year later than Samsung Electronics, but it is still favoured by the industry.

The 3nm process was also highlighted by TSMC's management during the quarterly earnings analyst call. During the earnings analyst call, TSMC CEO Chieh-Jia Wei said that their 3nm process is in volume production at a respectable yield and that customer demand for the 3nm process is outpacing their capacity, driven by demand for high performance computing and smartphone applications, and that they expect to fully utilize their capacity this year.
Wei also revealed at the conference that their 3nm process is expected to generate significant revenue from the third quarter onwards, and is expected to account for a mid-single-digit percentage of their full-year foundry revenue this year.
Wei also said at the conference that their 3nm process is the most advanced semiconductor technology available in terms of power consumption, performance and area and transistor technology, and they therefore expect strong customer demand for their 3nm process to continue for many years, and they are confident that the 3nm process family will be another large and enduring process node for them.
