On Jan. 9, ON Semiconductor announced that it has renewed its long-term supply agreement with Li Auto. Li Auto uses ON's proven 8 megapixel image sensors in its Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) models. With this agreement, RISO will utilize ON's high-performance EliteSiC 1200V bare die in its next-generation 800V high-voltage pure electric models and continue to integrate ON's 8-megapixel high-performance image sensors in its future models.
The data shows that Li Auto delivered 12 consecutive months of YoY growth in 2023, boosting from 15,100 units in January to over 50,000 units in December, with a total of 376,000 vehicles delivered for the year, far exceeding the 250,000-300,000 delivery target set at the beginning of the year. Market sources said Li Auto plans to hit the 800,000-vehicle delivery target in 2024.
At the Guangzhou Auto Show in late 2023, Li Auto Auto unveiled its first pure electric MPV model MEGA, based on the SiC platform supporting 800V high-voltage fast charging, and the first model equipped with Ningde Times 5C Kirin batteries, with a charging power of 500 kilowatts, which enables a range of 500 kilometers in 12 minutes of charging.
In addition to renewing its contract with ON Semiconductor, Li Auto meanwhile signed a long-term supply agreement in December 2023 with STMicroelectronics for silicon carbide (SiC). According to the agreement, ST will provide SiC MOSFETs to RISO to support RISO's strategic deployment to enter the high-voltage EV market. According to the report, RISO's 800V high-voltage pure electric platform will utilize ST's third-generation 1200V SiC MOSFET technology in the electric drive inverter.
