From 2024, the EU will Force the Unified Use of USB-C Interface

Recently, negotiators of the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement that from the autumn of 2024, all small and medium-sized portable electronic products sold in the EU, including mobile phones, tablets, headphones, etc., must be uniformly equipped with USB-C charging interfaces.
The additional list of 12 electronic product groups including e-readers, portable game consoles and cameras will also have the obligation to share common charging standards in the EU. Laptops must comply with the new regulations within 40 months (3.3 years) after the new regulations take effect.
This means that if Apple's electronic products, including the iPhone, want to be sold in the EU, they must give up the previous lighting charging interface and use the USB-C interface instead. Unless the iPhone is not equipped with a charging interface and uses wireless charging, it is reported that the iPhone 15 series next year will use the USB-C interface.
In fact, the EU has repeatedly asked European countries to legislate a unified mobile phone USB-C interface, mainly to reduce e-waste. For environmental protection reasons, consumers only need to use one charger. Apple is the biggest opponent of the bill, and the objection is that the bill stifles innovation. Compared with Lightning interface, USB-C has faster data transmission and charging speed. It is a good thing for the industry and consumers to adopt USB-C interface uniformly.
