LG Electronics Established its Overseas R&D Center in Indonesia

LG Electronics Inc. said Thursday it has opened its first R&D lab for home entertainment products outside of South Korea in Indonesia to help accelerate its entry into the Southeast Asian TV market.
The 40,000-square-foot R&D lab, located in Cibitung, West Java province, Indonesia, is adjacent to LG's existing TV production plant in the city, which is LG's production hub in Indonesia and just 40 kilometers from LG's sales office in the capital Jakarta. LG Electronics hopes that by establishing a regional R&D lab, it will be able to operate more efficiently from product development to end-user delivery. The company said it plans to increase its local staff to about 500 by 2025 in order to improve its research competitiveness. The company did not disclose how many people are employed at the lab.
