Recently, some media reported that the United States and Japan have determined to jointly develop 2nm process chips in order to get rid of the dependence on TSMC and master the advanced semiconductor industry chain. The United States has strong advantages in chip design. The country has top chip manufacturers such as Intel, Qualcomm and apple, and its overall strength is not weak. The advantages of Japan are mainly concentrated in the supply chain links such as photoresist materials and EUV masks, which can be said to be monopolistic.
TSMC, At the recent general meeting of shareholders, the CEO of Jidian said: "The characteristics of semiconductors cannot be imitated no matter how much they cost or how many people use them. They need to accumulate over time. TSMC is not worried about being surpassed. 2nm process technology can not be easily developed. TSMC is not worried about the joint efforts of the United States and Japan, because even though they have strong chip design capabilities and monopoly materials and technologies in the key links of lithography, they still have to produce chips in the end. At present, except for manufacturers who can master the mass production of chips TSMC is Samsung, but Samsung has some problems in the process of chip production at the same level, such as yield and insufficient capacity. In fact, the United States and Japan have little choice.
