At the end of last year, the completion ceremony of the first wafer factory built by TSMC in the United States was held, which is one of the signs of the revival of American manufacturing. Apple CEO Cook and other heavyweight business celebrities came to the scene to congratulate them, and said that they would become the first batch of chips manufactured in the United States, and were proud of this.

However, the cost of advanced technology chips produced by TSMC in the United States is much higher than that produced in Asia, which is obviously not conducive to Apple's control of product prices. The price of iPhone and other products has to rise.
For this issue, Apple CEO was also asked at the recent financial report meeting how to view the issue that the cost of chips produced in the United States is higher than that produced by TSMC, but Cook avoided this issue, remained silent and did not talk about how to solve it.
There is not much time left for Apple. The first American factory of TSMC will be put into operation in 2024, and Apple's purchase will also be realized next year.
According to TSMC's plan, they will build at least two large wafer plants in the United States. Fab 1 was originally planned to be a 5nm process, but it will eventually produce a 4nm process in 2024. The second wafer plant will produce a 3nm process in 2026.
TSMC previously said at the financial report meeting that the cost of building a factory in the United States is mainly related to infrastructure, and the cost of building a factory is four or five times higher than that of the local.
These costs include labor, licenses, occupational safety and regulations, as well as inflation and personnel learning curve in recent years.
