According to John Rydning, vice president of research at IDC Global DataSphere, an international market research firm, "Consumers are producing massive amounts of new data at an accelerating rate. In 2022 alone, the average global household will generate more than 20 terabytes of data1 . This number will continue to grow as people continue to use and create new data content. While many users are accustomed to cloud-based storage, they still need local data storage solutions at their fingertips to assist them in managing the continuing increase in personal and work data."
Survey data shows the average U.S. household has more than 10 connected devices2, and new mass storage solutions can meet consumers' need for more storage space, helping them balance personal device data backup with home storage needs. Whether it's the precious photos and videos in your life or the important files and applications at work, Western Digital has the ideal solution for them to meet consumers' evolving data storage needs.
In their daily lives, consumers are able to create, use and manage their data content across multiple devices," said Susan Park, vice president of product management at Western Digital. As a result, we are committed to continuing to provide them with even easier and more convenient, secure and reliable data storage solutions."
The Western Digital My Book™ desktop hard drive now features up to 22TB* of storage capacity. It helps users back up and save massive amounts of documents, photos, videos and other files from various devices, and better integrate data stored in everyday storage devices such as mobile SSDs, mechanical hard drives, memory cards and USB flash drives for easier management and access. For users with higher storage needs, Western Digital is also launching the My Book™ Duo desktop hard drive with 44TB* of storage capacity, equipped with Western Digital™ enterprise mechanical hard drives optimized for RAID arrays and ready to use right out of the box. Users can use the included software to reset the drive to RAID 1 mode for redundancy through data mirroring, or set it to JBOD mode for use as two separate mechanical drives.
