June 16 news, although Intel will join the graphics card market, with Nvidia's competition a little more, but in other aspects, the two sides still have the possibility of cooperation, especially Intel also wants a share of the foundry market. Next year's mass production "1.8nm" process has been sample tested, Nvidia is very interested.
During the Taipei Computer Show in the end of May, Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun said that they are open to cooperation with Intel's foundry. Not only is this a polite sentence, Huang Renxun also mentioned that they have seen the initial performance of the technical test chip of Intel's upcoming new process, which looks good. The new process he mentioned is the 18A process that Intel values most, which is equivalent to the 1.8nm friend process. There are already sample chips for customers, and Nvidia has also got them.
Nvidia's cooperation with Intel on foundry cooperation is not for fun, they are really considering it. CFO Colette Kress also responded to related topics again a few days ago, saying that they are interested in increasing the number of foundry partners to improve the reliability of the supply chain. Intel's main wafer production base is still in the United States, and Nvidia is also interested in purchasing American manufacturing, which can spread risk capabilities.
Colette Kress emphasized that Nvidia has been working with foundries for more than 30 years, and it is possible to have an additional Intel foundry, and they are also moving in this direction.
