ADI introduces the ADIN2299, a multi-protocol industrial Ethernet switch platform designed to meet the connectivity needs of industrial and process automation, motion control, transportation and energy automation. As a highly integrated and tested solution, the ADIN2299 includes a communications controller, dual-port 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch, memory, physical layer (PHY) and protocol stack for star, wire or ring topology applications.

In addition to the protocol stack, the ADIN2299 provides RTOS, file system, drivers and TCP/IP to effectively reduce design and debug time. The application processor can be connected to the switch platform via UART, SPI or Ethernet interfaces. the ADIN2299 software enables the application processor to connect to a unified interface and use a variety of industrial protocols without changing the application processor software. Therefore, the associated learning process is eliminated when incorporating other protocols. Based on the ADIN2299, customers can support multiple industrial protocols with a single field device hardware design. another key element of the ADIN2299 is network security. It features secure boot and secure updates, ensuring that only validated code is executed, reducing the potential for field disruptions caused by network attacks.
The ADIN2299 evaluation kit is available for platform evaluation and system development. A set of proven application examples is available to demonstrate end-to-end, host-to-network and interface-to-controller communication. Once the application development board is connected to the ADIN2299 evaluation board via the UART, SPI or Ethernet interface, the protocol communication can be evaluated using a PLC or controller simulator. This allows for quick and comprehensive verification before integrating the ADIN2299 into a system.
