Intel will build $20 billion in two more fabs and mass-produce the 2 nm process in 2025

Previously it had been an internet hot streak where Intel was mocked for lagging behind TSMC in terms of process steps, when it continued to " grind" the 14nm process for several years when TSMC 7nm was already in mass production and maintaining good yields, also teased by the internet at the time. Apparently Intel has been trying to find ways to turn this around in recent years. Currently, Intel CEO Kissinger has announced that he will invest another $20 billion in Ohio to build a factory in the United States, and two of them.

The two fabs are said to be part of Intel's IDM 2.0 strategy and are expected to begin mass production in 2025, although there is no official mention of the process level of the fabs at that time, but Intel has previously stated that it wants to mass produce 2nm and 1.8nm processes in 2024.
This means that, barring unforeseen circumstances, the two new factories will also be producing 2nm and 1.8nm processes in volume in 2025.
For reasons that are well known to all, Intel has started to invest heavily in the United States in the last two years, investing $20 billion in new fabs in Arizona last year and another $20 billion in Ohio now. Because these two new Ohio factories are the first local semiconductor chip factories after the passage of the chip subsidy bill in the United States, local senior officials also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
