Intel said that it would turn to 3nm chips in the second half of next year. According to  media reports, Ann Kelleher, vice president of Intel and responsible for technology research and development, said at a recent press conference: "We are completely on track.". Kelleher revealed that Intel is currently mass producing 7nm process chips and is ready to start producing 4nm process chips. It plans to turn to 3nm process chips in the second half of next year.

According to Intel's plan, Intel's 3nm process will be mass produced in H2 in 2023, followed by the 20A process in the first half of 2024, and the 18A process in 2024, which is equivalent to 2nm and 1.8nm processes, will also introduce RibbonFET transistors and PowerVias back power supply two black technologies.
Earlier, Intel CEO Pat Kissinger said that people had long suspected the "longevity" of Moore's Law, but "Moore's Law will continue to develop." Moore's Law is effective, at least in the next decade. ".
According to its introduction, Intel has made a bold plan to deliver five nodes within four years. Intel 18A process PDK version 0.3 has been adopted by early design customers, and the test chip is being designed and will be rolled out at the end of the year. With two breakthrough technologies, RibbonFET and PowerVia, and advanced technologies such as High NA lithography machine, Intel hopes to have 1 trillion transistors on a chip package by 2030.
"Intel and Intel foundry services will usher in the era of system level foundry". This model consists of four main parts: wafer manufacturing, packaging, software and open core ecosystem. "Innovations once considered impossible have brought new possibilities to chip manufacturing," said Pat Kissinger.
In addition to Intel, many chip manufacturers, including Samsung and TSMC, announced earlier this year that they were turning to 3nm research and development.
In June this year, Samsung announced that it would take the lead in mass production of 3nm in the world. At the 2022 Semiconductor EUV Global Ecosystem Conference, Park Bingzai, senior researcher of foundry department of Samsung Electronics, said that by 2026, the global 3nm process node foundry market would reach $24.2 billion, an increase of more than 20 times over this year's $1.2 billion.
After ups and downs, TSMC's power generation of 3nm was finally on track at the end of the year. According to TSMC's previous information, there are at least five generations of derivative processes on the 3nm node, namely, N3, N3P, N3S, N3X and N3E, of which the N3 process is the first to be mass produced. Compared with the N5 process, N3 can reduce power consumption by about 25-30%, improve performance by 10-15%, and increase transistor density by about 70%.
