Meta will cooperate with SK Hynix and LG Display to develop MicroOLED

On February 14, according to media reports, Meta will cooperate with South Korean chip manufacturer SK Hynix and LCD panel manufacturer LG Display to develop MicroOLED.

According to Korean media reports, MicroOLED panels have thinner and smaller features, as well as ultra-high-definition resolution, which makes them most suitable for applications in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and hybrid reality (MR) devices, which is the area Meta plans to expand.
It is reported that Meta is currently developing a series of hardware products for Meta Universe, including intelligent glasses and virtual reality head display.
In addition to Meta, there have been rumors that Apple is also actively developing some form of AR/VR head display or smart glasses.
In June 2022, foreign media reported that LG Display expected to order MicroOLED production equipment to produce MicroOLED panels, thus preparing for Apple's MR product demand.
According to foreign media reports, Apple's first MR device is expected to be launched later this year, which will be a high-end device with high-end display.
