Nexperia Semiconductor Acquires Nowi, a Dutch Semiconductor Company

        Nowi, a Dutch semiconductor company, has been acquired by Nexperia Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Wingtech Technology, on November 11, 2022, the company announced in a press release.
        We learned that Nowi was founded in 2016 and its main product is energy harvesting power management chip, whose chip can effectively manage the weak energy collected from the environment and provide energy support for IoT sensors, electronic tags, smart bracelets and other scenarios.

        According to the introduction, Nowi's PMIC combines an ultra-small PCB package, ultra-low BOM cost, and excellent average harvesting performance. Backed by Ensyn's manufacturing capabilities and the strength of its global infrastructure, Nowi is able to accelerate the production process of these solutions and rapidly achieve larger scale production and shipping by the end of 2022 and early 2023.
        Nowi's acquisition is a strategically important investment as energy harvesting perfectly complements Nexperia's existing power management capabilities, a decision that means Ensyn can now offer customers a sustainable battery alternative for their products and help bring their products to market quickly, said Dan Jensen, an Nexperia executive.
        It is reported that Nexperia Semiconductor previously planned to acquire the acquisition of the UK's largest chip manufacturer NWF, as the UK's largest existing fab, as well as compound semiconductors and silicon photonics strategic research activity cluster of manufacturing centers, Nexperia acquisition of NWF has caused concern in the UK. As a result, in May this year, the UK implemented the new National Security and Investment Act, launching a retrospective investigation that ultimately blocked the acquisition.
