Pickering's Miniature High Voltage Resistant Reed Relay Now Operates at Temperatures Up to 125°C

        Clacton-on-Sea, UK, July 19, 2023 - Pickering Electronics, a leader in miniaturized and high-performance reed relays with more than 50 years of experience, today introduced a new high-temperature and high-voltage tolerant, single-row, in-line reed relay capable of operating at temperatures up to 125°C. The new 104HT series is part of a family of miniature, high-voltage tolerant reed relays with a 6.35 mm pitch. The new 104HT Series relays are part of a miniature, high-voltage tolerant reed relay family and are available in a 6.35 mm pitch single in-line (SIL) package with isolation voltage capability up to 4kV.

        "When evaluating the performance of a typical reed relay, it is important to remember that temperatures in excess of 85°C may adversely affect its function. By designing these devices with enhanced magnetic actuation and using specialist potting materials to maintain insulation resistance, Pickering can now offer reed relays that operate at temperatures up to 125°C, with custom-designed models capable of even higher temperatures." Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics, explains the new products.

        The Pickering 104 Series Reed Relays feature internal high permeability alloy shielding that is effective against any magnetic interaction. An optional electrostatic shielding is also available as an included option. These versatile relays are available in a variety of configurations, including 1 Form A, 2 Form A, and 1 Form B, and can be equipped with 5, 12, or 24V coils with optional internal diode protection.

        These relays are available with a choice of four reed switches capable of withstanding 1.5, 2, 3 or 4kV DC. For those requiring higher isolation voltages, the 3kV and 4kV versions are designed with increased clearance between the switch and coil pins to accommodate higher voltages. If the user requires a higher voltage rating or the ability to withstand higher temperatures, Pickering can also offer a variety of special build options or fully customized designs to meet unique requirements. Mercury wet reed switched relays are also available for applications requiring a non-bouncing switch. These are rated for a minimum isolation voltage of 1500V DC and switching power up to 50W.
