Qorvo® (NASDAQ: QRVO), a leading global provider of connectivity and power solutions, announced the expansion of its 5G base station portfolio with the QPB3810, a gallium nitride (GaN)-based power amplifier module (PAM) with integrated bias control for 5G massive MIMO (mMIMO) applications, and Qorvo's new QPB9362, a highly integrated front-end low-noise amplifier (LNA) module for 5G TDD systems. QPB9362 as a highly integrated front-end low-noise amplifier (LNA) module for 5G TDD systems. These devices expand Qorvo's broad portfolio for mMIMO applications and are key building blocks in a new RF front-end reference design to accelerate the adoption of mMIMO systems.

We are excited to continue our close collaboration with Qorvo to build high-performance 5G solutions with the industry-leading AMD Zynq UltraScale RFSoC DFE devices," said Anthony Collins, director of 5G wireless and RF ecosystems at AMD. Working together to deliver proven and optimized reference designs to our mutual customers is key to reducing risk and shortening their radio time-to-market cycles."
The QPB3810, a 48V, 8-watt average power PAM covering the 3.4-3.8 GHz band, is the first commercial GaN module released; its integrated bias controller is factory-programmed and set at the optimal bias point for the Doherty PAM. The QPB3810 is available in a compact 12 mm x 8 mm SMT package, offering a significant reduction in board space compared to traditional discrete component solutions. As with Qorvo's other PAM products, the QPB3810 requires minimal external circuitry. Based on the AMD ZynqTM Ultrascale+TM RFSoC DFE Adaptive Wireless System-on-Chip and digital pre-distortion IP, the QPB3810's linearity is proven to exceed 5G requirements at 400MHz instantaneous bandwidth.
The QPB9362 is targeted at 5G wireless infrastructure applications based on TDD mMIMO architecture configurations. This switching LNA module incorporates an LNA with a high power handling switch that can be used as a fail-safe path to terminate operation while the radio is transmitting. In receive mode, the QPB9362 provides 34.5dB of gain and a typical noise figure of 1.1dB over the entire operating band, and the LNA power-down mode is implemented via a transmit/receive control pin on the module. The product is available in a compact RoHS-compliant 5 mm x 3 mm LGA package.
Qorvo's 5G modules create the best solution for minimizing cost, improving performance and increasing the capacity of mMIMO designs," said Tuan Nguyen, director of Qorvo's Infrastructure Solutions business line. Both modules support the continued global expansion of 5G technology and enable greater integration at the board level, reflecting our focus on ease of use and efficiency."
The QPB3810 and QPB9362 are included in a complete RF front-end reference design for 5G mMIMO applications, available now from Qorvo. This small form factor reference design provides a transmit/receive RF solution from the baseband front-end to the antenna filter. The transmitter lineup includes the QPA9122M wideband high linearity pre-driver, the QPB3810, a directional coupler for DPD monitoring, and a circulator; the receive path includes the QPB9362.
