In recent years, QUALCOMM has introduced a number of chips for PC products, but they are mainly based on the revision and optimization of mobile phone chips. The latest news has revealed that QUALCOMM is preparing a new PC processor, which is expected to officially debut in 2024.

It is understood that this chip, code named "Hamoa", will have 12 cores and will use a combination of 8+4, that is, 8 performance cores and 4 energy efficiency cores. It sounds a bit like the architecture of Intel Core processor. The memory and cache are very similar to the design of Apple's M1 chip, and it is also equipped with a dedicated GPU. Qualcomm will use Nuvia's Phoenix core design. This team was just acquired by Qualcomm last year, hoping to help them design the core of Arm architecture and build a stronger core.
The design was developed by a former Apple engineer. One of its founders, Gerard Williams III, is not small. Apple A7 to A14 are organized by teams led by Gerard Williams III. In early years, ARM also participated in the definition of Corex-A8/A15. Rich experience is believed to be of great help to Qualcomm.
It is worth noting that in the fourth quarter financial report conference call a few days ago, Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, said, "Based on the relevant designs accumulated currently, we expect to see the inflection point of Windows on Snapdragon PCs in 2024". Amon's prediction is mainly based on the AI function of Windows system, more and more PC manufacturers use Snapdragon processors, and further design work makes Snapdragon more and more suitable for Windows system. Of course, the new CPU products that are still in preparation mentioned just now should also be an important factor for Qualcomm to have such confidence, and whether Qualcomm can achieve specific results on Snapdragon PCs as expected by Amun may not be known until 2024.
