According to Russian media reports, Russia itself is developing lithography for chip production. In a media interview, its Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak noted that production of 350-nanometer lithography will begin in 2024, and lithography for the production of chips with a 130-nanometer process will be launched in 2026. Its production will take place at existing plants in Moscow, Zelenograd, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
Vasily Shpak noted that currently only two companies in the world produce such equipment, including Nikon of Japan and ASML of the Netherlands, however, it is quite important for the production of semiconductors.
Vasily Shpak said that 211.4 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of Russian electronics in 2024 alone. The reason for Russia's decision to develop 350- to 65-nanometer lithography is that chips in this technology range are mostly used in microcontrollers, power electronics, telecommunication circuits, automotive electronics, etc., which account for about 60% of the market. Therefore, this equipment is in high demand in the worldwide market and will be in constant demand for at least 10 years.
In addition, when asked about possible resistance, Vasily Shpak said, I do not want to complain, all the problems are not a problem, because it is about what opportunities we have, as well as the goals set.
