MediaTek Launched Tiangui 9300 Flagship 5G Generative AI Mobile Chip, Ushering in the Era of All-Big-Core Computing

        Yesterday, MediaTek announced the Tenguet 9300 flagship 5G generative AI mobile chip, which, with its innovative all-big-core architectural design, provides far superior high-intelligence, high-performance, high-energy-efficiency, and low-power-consumption outstanding features, and defines a flagship new experience in terms of end-side generative AI, gaming, and imaging with highly ground-breaking advanced technologies.

        In order to meet the increasing demand for mobile computing power in the modern and future, MediaTek went beyond traditional architectural design and pioneered the Tenguet 9300's "all-core" CPU architecture, which consists of four Cortex-X4 cores up to 3.25GHz and four Cortex-X4 cores up to 2.0GHz, with a maximum of 2.0GHz and 2.0GHz. 2.0GHz Cortex-A720 cores, with a 40% increase in peak performance and a 33% reduction in power consumption compared to the previous generation. The all-big-core architecture is fast, efficient and energy-efficient, reducing power consumption and prolonging battery life in both light- and heavy-duty applications. The powerful multi-threaded performance of the full-big-core architecture allows the terminal to multitask more smoothly, such as playing games and live video streams at the same time, or playing videos while gaming.
        The Tenguet 9300 integrates MediaTek's seventh-generation AI processor, the APU 790, designed for generative AI, which delivers significant performance and power efficiency improvements, with up to two times the performance of its predecessor in integer and floating-point operations, and up to 45% lower power consumption.The APU 790 has a built-in hardware-level generative AI engine for faster and safer edge AI computation, with a deep adaptation of the Transformer model for arithmetic acceleration, processing speed is 8 times faster than the previous generation, and images can be generated in 1 second.      Based on the characteristics of large language models with hundreds of millions of parameters, MediaTek has developed mixed-precision INT4 quantization technology, which, combined with MediaTek's unique memory hardware compression technology NeuroPilot Compression, can more efficiently utilize memory bandwidth and significantly reduce the occupancy of terminal memory by large AI models, and support terminals running 1 billion, 7 billion, 13 billion, up to 33 billion parameters, and up to 33 billion parameters. The APU 790 also supports NeuroPilot Fusion, an end-side "skill expansion" technology for generative AI models, which enables continuous end-side Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) fusion based on the base model, and thus enables the APU 790 to run on the end-side of the APU 790, with a maximum of 33 billion parameters. MediaTek's AI development platform, NeuroPilot, has built a rich AI ecosystem that supports cutting-edge mainstream AI models such as Android, Meta Llama 2, Baidu Wenxin Yiyin model, Baichuan Intelligence Baichuan model, etc. The complete toolchain helps developers quickly and efficiently deploy multiple AI models on the end-side.         The Tenguet 9300 is the first to utilize the new generation flagship 12-core GPU Immortalis-G720, which delivers a 46% increase in peak performance compared to the previous generation and a 40% savings in power consumption for the same performance, delivering a long-lasting and smooth flagship mobile gaming experience. Equipped with MediaTek's second-generation hardware ray tracing engine, the Tenguet 9300 supports 60FPS smooth ray tracing and delivers console-grade global lighting effects, setting a new benchmark for mobile gaming image quality experience. In addition, MediaTek's unique MAGT gaming adaptive control technology has been upgraded to "Star Speed Engine", which not only cooperates with a wide range of gaming applications, but also expands ecological cooperation with more types of applications to continuously improve user experience.
        With the flagship ISP image processor Imagiq 990, the Tenguet 9300 supports the AI semantic segmentation video engine, which performs 16 layers of semantic image segmentation and real-time frame-by-frame optimization of color, texture, noise and brightness of the captured image, resulting in brighter, sharper and more detailed video recordings. With the upgraded depth-of-field and spot engines, the Tenguet 9300 delivers cinematic lighting effects during 4K video recording. The chip also integrates a dedicated OIS optical stabilization core, which significantly improves stabilization computing speed and filming rate to quickly capture high-definition images in sports scenes and dark light environments. Meanwhile, the Tenguet 9300 supports all-pixel focus stacked with 2x lossless zoom. By working closely with the world's leading sensor manufacturers, MediaTek will continue to create a professional mobile imaging experience for users.
        The first smartphone to utilize the MediaTek Tengui 9300 chip is expected to be available by the end of 2023.
