Russia's Self-developed Lithography Machine will Come out in 2028, Capable of Producing 7nm Chips

        The lithography machine developed by the Russian Academy of Sciences will come out in 2028 and can produce 7nm chips.
Russia's Great Novgorod Strategic Development Agency made a rhetoric, claiming that the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences will fall below everyone's glasses and develop a lithography machine that can produce 7-nanometer chips in 2028. It can also beat ASML similar products .

        The deputy director of the Institute of Nanostructures of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that ASML, a global lithography machine leader, has been working on EUV exposure machines for nearly 20 years, with the goal of maintaining high production efficiency for the world's top semiconductor manufacturers.
        Some people in the circle said that Russia’s idea seems too naive. It is not feasible for Russia to develop a lithography machine that can support 7nm chips within 6 years, and the wafer factory does not rely on the lithography machine to produce chips. A lot of equipment is also required, which Russia does not produce.
        It is worth mentioning that the Nizhny Novgorod delegation also showed demo samples of future lithography equipment. The system was developed, manufactured and installed based on IAP RAS in Nizhny Novgorod. However, they themselves mentioned that this is not even a prototype of the device, but a "prototype of a prototype".
        The demonstration device, while not solving real industrial problems, could give scientists the opportunity to verify the feasibility of key technologies and test other key assumptions needed for further work.
