On June 20, Stellantis and Foxconn jointly announced that they will form a 50:50 automotive semiconductor joint venture, SiliconAuto, which is expected to provide a range of state-of-the-art automotive semiconductor design and sales services to customers in the automotive industry, including Stellantis, starting in 2026.

The industry's demand for semiconductors remains high in the context of the automotive industry's transition to automation and electrification. "SiliconAuto will provide customers with an automotive industry-focused source of semiconductors for the increasing number of computer control functions and modules required, especially those for electric vehicles," said Stellantis.
SiliconAuto will be headquartered in the Netherlands and will be operated by a joint team of Stellantis and Foxconn. SiliconAuto will combine Stellantis' in-depth knowledge of the diverse needs of the global mobility industry with Foxconn's expertise and development capabilities in the information and communications industry. The formation of the new joint venture is a major development following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Stellantis and Foxconn in December 2021 for a partnership in the field of automotive semiconductors.
Stellantis Group will be one of the joint venture's key customers, said Ned Curic, Stellantis' Chief Technology Officer, "Stellantis will benefit from a stable supply of core components that will be essential to drive the rapid transformation of our products in the software-defined era. Our goal is to build vehicles for our car-buying customers that connect seamlessly to their daily lives and maintain excellent performance even after many years in the factory."
In addition to this, SiliconAuto will also address the semiconductor needs of Foxconn and third-party customers. We look forward to leveraging the resources and vertical integration capabilities of both parent companies to provide our partners with quality products and services that will be the cornerstone of a thriving electric vehicle industry," said Cai-You Hsiao, chief product officer of Foxconn. The combined effect of this partnership will also help our customers improve their competitiveness."
