Teledyne e2v, a Teledyne Technologies group company, announced the release of Optimom 1.5M, the latest addition to the Optimomfamily, a new family of turnkey optical modules that can be integrated directly into vision systems.
The Optimom 1.5M is a complete board-level vision extension designed to speed development, reduce R&D investment and lower manufacturing costs for embedded vision and AI vision solutions. It includes a proprietary image sensor, a miniature 25 mm square board with a lens base, and multiple styles of spare lenses.

The Optimom 1.5M module uses the native MIPI CSI-2 protocol and comes with a complete development kit that includes an adapter board, cables and Linux drivers for immediate integration with MIPI-based processing units such as NVIDIA Jetson or NXP i.MX solutions.
The Optimom 1.5M features a 1.5 megapixel CMOS image sensor in a wide 1,920 x 800 format, making it ideal for scanning applications such as handheld scanners, automatic identification systems, lab equipment or drones. The module is priced for 1.5MP solutions, while ensuring full compatibility with the higher resolution Optimom 2M module.
Both modules are available with lenses already mounted and focused, eliminating the tedious task of lens selection and assembly. In addition, both modules can be optionally paired with an autofocus lens, allowing customers to take full advantage of the depth-of-focus extension even at close range, and can be used in conjunction with a variety of multi-focus or autofocus algorithms.
