The decline in the scale of Chinese chip imports and the big change in the attitudes of TSMC and ASML mean that Chinese chips will rise again?

According to statistics released by relevant departments, China's chip import scale in the first quarter of 2021 was 175.6 billion yuan, while China's chip import scale in the first quarter of this year (2022) was 157.8 billion yuan. In contrast, the import scale of Chinese chips in the first quarter of 2022 decreased by 17.8 billion yuan compared with the previous year, and the overall chip import rate fell by 11.2%. Judging from the data, China's chip import scale is on a downward trend, which shows     that China's dependence on foreign imports in the chip field is declining.
The reasons for this trend can be divided into two aspects: external reasons and internal reasons: the external reasons are well
-known. Since 2018, the US has included a number of Chinese chip technology companies in the entity list, included many chip technology enterprises in China, of which Huawei, which has been called a "national enterprise" for a long time. This practice of the US has also directly led to the continuous deterioration of the external environment of China's chip industry, and it is reasonable that China's chip imports to the outside world have declined. As for the internal reasons, in order to cope with this situation, China's domestic self-developed chips have been strengthening in recent years, and some of the chip industry scale has been digested and absorbed by domestic enterprises.
In addition, with the continuous strengthening of domestic self-developed chips, as well as a series of reasons such as overcapacity of foreign chips, some well-known enterprises in the global chip industry have begun to change their attitudes and look at Chinese chips differently, the most obvious of which are TSMC and ASML in the Netherlands.
All in all, from the perspective of these two major trends, it seems to illustrate the fact that China's chip technology may really usher in a new rise.
