TSMC may lose its bargaining advantage if the core shortage problem of major car enterprises is alleviated

        According to CNMO, TSMC, the leading OEM enterprise, will raise prices next year or there is uncertainty, and existing car chip customers are considering renegotiation. It is reported that as the demand for PC and other consumer electronic equipment slows down rapidly, the wafer foundry faces customers' order cutting, and the capacity utilization rate drops significantly. Previously, due to the shortage of chips, the car manufacturers and chip manufacturers that lowered their heads and didn't ask about the price but only wanted to have capacity seized the opportunity and planned to renegotiate with the wafer foundry in the fourth quarter.
 
 
        Auto original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and first tier suppliers are seeking to restore the quotation of OEMs to the pre epidemic level next year, because they have seen the pressure of supply chain shortages begin to ease.
        The source also said that many auto chip categories had relieved the supply crisis, and some chip stocks had even approached the pre epidemic level. This situation will put the foundry at a disadvantage in the price negotiation. In addition, the wafer foundry will negotiate with automotive IDMs on their recent orders, and suppliers including Infineon and STC will outsource about 20% of their production. 
        According to relevant news, due to the reason that the supply exceeds the demand, the quotation of automobile chip manufacturers has soared in the past few years. However, the current inflation pressure and other situations have cast a shadow on the demand outlook for next year, making automobile manufacturers have to re-examine risks and costs. If supply can keep up with demand, TSMC's voice will be further reduced.
