Shi Zhenrong, the Godfather of Computers in Taiwan and the founder of Acer Group, said today that industrial division of labor is a major trend. Although the US wants to break the development of globalization due to national security issues and move Electronic Components manufacturing back to the US, the violates the large-scale transfer of industrial paradigms. The trend is not necessarily feasible, and it will be relatively inefficient and not competitive enough to do it reluctantly.
Shi Zhenrong said that two major events occurred in the semiconductor industry last week. One was that Intel's market value was surpassed by AMD, and the other was that the US passed the chip bill, which will inspire and influence Taiwan and the semiconductor industry. It is worthy of everyone's attention. Shi Zhenrong further analyzed that the reason why Micron is still competitive in the memory field lies in the industrial division of labor with Taiwan, China. Therefore, in the high-tech industry, the US develops technological innovation and outsources manufacturing to partners in Taiwan, China, in order to create the competitiveness of many American international brands.
However, the bill passed by the US stated that the federal government's budget of more than 50 billion US dollars to subsidize the entire semiconductor industry in the past five years is very small compared with the investment scale of the industry itself. Even with the overweight of state governments, it can only produce encouragement at most, and cannot have a structural impact on the technological upgrading of semiconductors and the competitive situation of the industry.
Therefore, it can be said that the US industrial subsidy bill has given Europe, Japan and all governments that claim to master the semiconductor industry a clear lesson, and has verified that it is too far-fetched for chips to be manufactured in the US.
