On August 4, Longxin Zhongke, a domestic Electronic components manufacturer, confirmed the news that it would enter the automotive field during its research activities. Its first MCU chip has been officially released and will soon enter the trial production stage.
At present, semiconductor companies have almost "rolled" on PC and mobile terminals. Limited by the research and development speed of advanced manufacturing processes, performance development has gradually slowed down, and profits have begun to decline. However, despite slowing down in relatively traditional areas, the automotive chip market is vibrant. According to the data of Research Institute C insights, the overall size of the global MCU chip market will reach US $18.8 billion in 2023. Godson Zhongke has previously realized the plan to enter the PC end field with self-developed chips, and will also enter the automotive field with MCU chips in the future. As a result, the proportion of domestic self-developed chips in all fields will be further increased.

In fact, in the whole "lack of core tide", the most intense demand is MCU chips and analog chips widely used in the automotive field. According to the latest financial report of MCU chip giant Italy France semiconductor, the net revenue in the second quarter of this year was $3.837 billion, of which the net revenue of MCU department and digital IC Department increased by 39.5% year-on-year. In terms of market performance, due to the gradual increase in the use of advanced assisted driving, the demand for chips in the automotive sector will reach a new peak in the next decade. It has to be said that there is no advanced manufacturing demand for MCU chips. Compared with 4nm and 5nm on mobile terminals, micro control units still remain in "mature" processes such as 40nm and 65nm. From the perspective of profitability, mature process costs are highly controllable, and the market demand is large, which is a good way for Godson Zhongke or any semiconductor manufacturer to earn without losing.
Although it is not difficult for semiconductor manufacturers with certain technology accumulation to develop the automotive chip market, from the market performance this year, this transformation and development may not be the intention of the manufacturers. Represented by consumer electronics such as PCs and smartphones, many manufacturers specializing in the chip market in traditional fields have not made clear performance in the past six months. In addition to the economic impact, consumers' demand for electronic products is gradually "rationalized", and the era of blind innovation may be over. In contrast, the market demand for intelligent driving is quite strong, and in the foreseeable future, the chips, parts and even on-board systems required by this category will usher in rapid development. In this case, manufacturers are also "forced" to try to explore new fields.
