Apple's M2 Pro and M2 Max chips offer a small 'performance boost

        Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said that compared to the current M1 Pro and M1 Max, the performance improvement of Apple's upcoming M2 Pro and M2 Max chips is "very small" (marginal). That said, this year's new 14-inch/16-inch MacBook Pro has a very small performance improvement.
 
 
        It is understood that Gurman used the English word "marginal" in Power On communication. Compared to the more familiar "small", the former means "very small in quantity or effect" in Cambridge Dictionary (tiny; small amount), and even the word has the meaning of "edge". It can be seen that Gurman is very dissatisfied with the performance improvements of the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
        "This year's 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will feature the exact same design and functionality as current models, including the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips," Gurman wrote in the newsletter. Gurman previously reported that the M2 Max chip will have 12 CPU cores, consisting of eight performance cores and four efficiency cores, as well as 38 graphics cores.
        In addition, Gurman also predicted that the iPhone 15 series will offer the same four screen sizes as the iPhone 14 series, and iPhone 15 series will support Dynamic Island function; and because the center of gravity of Apple's engineering team is now shifted to xrOS, the internal code-named "Dawn iOS 17 update size" is much smaller than expected.
        Regarding the Apple headset, which Gurman said would be released in the spring, in time for WWDC in June, Gurman said a prototype of the headset had been distributed to a small number of developers for testing, but the device was far from complete and Apple still needed to address several "issues" in hardware and software.
