M2 Max has appeared on GeekBench's benchmark platform before, but the performance improvement has not met user expectations, leading many users to think that Apple has begun to squeeze toothpaste. But now, the new benchmark of the M2 Max has also appeared on the platform, which has significantly improved performance compared to the last time.

According to previous GeekBench platform information, the M2 Max has 12 cores, the main frequency is as high as 3.54GHz, and it is equipped with 96GB of memory. In contrast, the previous generation M1 Max only has 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores, and supports 64GB of memory at the same time. Although the number of GPUs is not shown, it can be seen from the comparison with the previous generation that the M2 Max may have more GPU cores. After all, the M2 has a lot of upgrades compared to the M1.
In terms of running points, Apple M2 Max core solo runs to 1889 points, multi-core 14586 points, M1 Max core solo score can run to 1700-1800 points, and multi-core score can reach 12800 points. The second running point M2 Max runs out of core solo 2027 points and multi-core 14888 points. Both multi-core and core solo have improved more than for the first time, and the improvement is considerable compared to the previous generation. The main frequency of the M2 Max this time is higher than the first time, reaching 3.68GHz, not the first 3.54GHz, which may be one reason why the M2 Max running points can be improved.
It is undeniable that the performance upgrade of the M2 Max this time will be far less surprising than when Apple first launched the M1. First, when the M1 was launched, the chip changed from Intel's X86 architecture to the M1's Arm architecture, and the architecture change led to a change in the chip's focus. Thanks to the advantages of the Arm architecture chip itself and Apple's hardware-level optimization for different tasks on the chip, the performance improvement of the M1 is enough to surprise people. It can also be seen from the upgrade of the M2 that the M2 adopts two specifications, namely the 8-core GPU version and the 10-core GPU version. Compared to the 8-core GPU of the M1, the performance of the 8-core version of the M2 is improved by 10%, and the 10-core version is improved by 10%. The overall energy consumption of M2 is not improved compared to M1. It also consists of the same 4 high-performance cores and 4 high-energy cores, but M2 performance has increased by 18% year over year. In addition, compared to the M1, which only supports up to 16G of memory, the M2 supports up to 24G of memory, which can bring a better multi-tasking experience, and the M2 also supports ProRes encoding, and natively supports ProRes video clips, which greatly improves the work efficiency of video workers. They can simultaneously edit up to 11 4K video streams and two 8K video streams.
There are also similar upgrade directions in the M2 Max. For example, the rumored two specs and higher memory support and similar performance improvements than the previous generation. Users can completely start the upgrade direction of the M2 Max from the M2 upgrade, so the current performance of the M2 Max is basically in line with this direction. But for most users, it can be quite disappointing. After all, the shocking level of M1 performance improvement is still being talked about today, and it is understandable to have high hopes for the iterative M2 series chips, but it still needs to be viewed rationally.
