OPPO Released Its Own Flagship SoC Chip for Bluetooth Audio

        In today's escalating cell phone consumption, OPPO is breaking the past development model of cell phone manufacturers based on supply chain solutions for innovation and moving towards a deeper stage of bottom-up exploration.
 
 
        Following the successful installation of Marianas X in several OPPO series products, OPPO released the second self-developed chip Marianas MariSilicon Y at the OPPO Future Technology Conference 2022 (OPPO INNO DAY 2022) held on December 14, which is a flagship Bluetooth audio SoC chip using the world's leading N6RF RF process, two generations ahead of the current mainstream process, two generations ahead of the current mainstream. Compared with OPPO's first in-house chip MariSilicon X, which is positioned as a co-processor, OPPO's in-house chip's capability has been upgraded to a Bluetooth audio SoC chip, which can be fully responsible for all functions of a Bluetooth audio device. 
        But whether it is MariSilicon X's upgrade in imaging or MariSilicon Y's innovation in Bluetooth connectivity, it is not the end of OPPO's self-developed technology. The establishment of a full set of core technology self-research system is only the beginning of a long journey. Jiang Bo clearly pointed out that "OPPO's goal is to solve the key problems in user experience with self-researched chips, mainly by considering the value of users."
        At the early stage of smartphone market development, cell phone chips are mainly supplied by third-party chip providers, including high-end machines using Qualcomm and low-end machines using MediaTek. But both Apple and Huawei, with self-research chips to bring the competitiveness of differentiation to obtain a leading high-end cell phone market share. This shows that the self-research chip is crucial, OPPO is a heavy investment.
        Marianas Trench, the deepest trench known to mankind, can also feel from the name of the Marianas chip, OPPO has a clear understanding of the risks, difficulties and potential benefits of self-research chip, but OPPO righteously insisted on it.
Compared with the first self-developed chip is a co-processor (Companion Chip) role, need to be paired with the main platform chip to use, Marianas MariSilicon Y is OPPO's first SoC chip solution. It breaks the bottleneck that lossless audio could only be transmitted through wired in the past, and through the industry's great 12Mbps Bluetooth rate and the leading URLC lossless codec technology, it achieves the wireless transmission of 192kHz/24bit lossless audio of the highest specification at present for the first time.

        But macroscopically, cell phone manufacturers for key scenarios for self-research chip, indeed, will bring about stronger operational synergy within the phone, which is also to high-end development process, the key to building its own core competitiveness.
