According to the Electronic Times news, China Taiwan's MCU chip makers, is to increase the proportion of 32-bit high-end products in the product line, seeking differentiated competition, in order to avoid and China's mainland MCU products to start a price war.

Due to the price of low-end products is not dominant, China Taiwan manufacturers have been strengthening the layout of 32-bit products, targeting industrial control, automotive, artificial intelligence (AI) market.
Currently, only Nuvoton Technology has a high percentage of 32-bit MCU products, while other vendors' sales are dominated by 8-bit MCUs.
In addition, Holtek Semiconductor (Holtek), Sonix, Generalplus Technology and Megawin are actively focusing on 32-bit MCU product lines. Industry insiders point out that there should be differences in the focus areas of different practitioners, not all targeting the automotive market.
Mainland China's MCU industry is benefiting from the strong demand for local electric vehicles, automotive 32-bit MCUs are used for vehicle control, intelligent dashboards, multimedia information systems, power systems, computer-aided driving and other control functions.
Shanghai Xinwang Microelectronics recently announced that it will raise RMB 1.73 billion for automotive MCU R&D, industrial and intelligent Internet of Things (IoT), and other MCU R&D and industrialization projects. It is worth noting that during the period of 2020-2022, the shipment of Neovation Micro's automotive-grade MCU products exceeded 50 million pcs, and it has established strategic cooperation with a number of large OEMs and international first-class suppliers, and has entered the supply chain of overseas automobile manufacturers
