Recently, Calista Redmond, CEO of RISC-V International, a global open hardware standards organization, revealed that the number of RISC-V architecture chips shipped has exceeded 10 billion, and the RISC-V architecture chips are expected to exceed 80 billion in 2025.

RISC-V architecture since 2010, is based on the principle of RISC (RISC) open source, free instruction set architecture, is also regarded as the impact of x86, Arm, the third largest CPU architecture, with completely open, free license, low-cost research and development, streamlined and flexible characteristics.
Based on the above advantages, RISC-V architecture has been widely favored by technology giants in recent years. Qualcomm, Nvidia, Samsung, IBM, Google, Huawei and other companies have joined the RISC-V International camp to help RISC-V technology development and standards development. In addition, Intel, which occupies the leading position in x86 architecture, has also locked its eyes on RISC-V.
In June, foreign media reported that Intel and Barcelona Supercomputing Center jointly said that the two sides will invest up to 400 million euros to jointly establish a laboratory, mainly in the development of RISC-V-based processors to support high-performance computing (HPC) systems, as well as dedicated chips for artificial intelligence and self-driving cars.
With the support of a number of technology giants, the RISC-V architecture is now expanding, and can be seen in many market segments, such as consumer electronics, Internet of Things, edge computing and other emerging applications.
