STMicroelectronics (ST), one of the world's leading semiconductor companies serving a wide range of electronics applications, announced that the launch of the French "Electronique 2030" program was held at ST's Crolles integrated R&D and manufacturing facility near Grenoble, France. The ceremony was held at ST's Crolles integrated R&D and manufacturing facility near Grenoble, France.
The launch ceremony was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron. Other guests present were Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industry and Digital Sovereignty; Sylvie Retailleau, Minister of Higher Education and Research; Olivier Veran, Minister Delegate of the Ministry for the Renewal of Democracy and Government Spokesperson; Olivier Veran, Minister Delegate of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and Olivier Becht, Minister Delegate of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad; Thierry Breton, Commissioner for the Internal Market of the European Commission, as well as representatives of the central, regional and local governments of France. The event was also attended by ST's partners from the semiconductor and electronics industry, including GlobalFoundries, CEA-Leti Institute and Soitec.

The "Electronics 2030" program is part of the "France 2030" investment plan announced in October 2021, and aims to maintain France's leading position in the electronics industry, addressing current and future challenges from upstream research to downstream applications, and across the entire industry chain. The current and future challenges facing the entire industry chain, from upstream research to downstream applications. Semiconductors are of strategic importance to many industries and the economy as a whole, providing direct support to the EU Green New Deal's goal of transforming the low-carbon economy to provide energy-efficient technologies, chips and solutions for smart mobility and the Internet of Things.
At the EU level, 20 EU member states, coordinated by the European Commission, have decided to launch a new project, IPCEI ME, based on the success of the first IPCEI project and the "European Priority Project of Common Interest (IPCEI ME)". -Microelectronics and Communication Technologies of Common European Interest (IPCEI ME/CT)". The new IPCEI ME/CT project attracts more than 100 companies with the goal of creating a complete semiconductor value chain that supports not only Research and Development Innovation (RDI) but also First Industrial Deployment (FID). COMMUNICATE (Communication Devices).
French President Emmanuel Macron announced financial support for STMicroelectronics and 14 other major French companies participating in the IPCEI ME/CT project between 2022 and 2026. The financial support will go directly to the work of the four teams in which STMicroelectronics is involved in the project, mainly carried out in STMicroelectronics' R&D and manufacturing facilities, in particular the five French sites of Crolles, Grenoble, Rennes, Rousset and Tours. Specifically, this includes the development of high-performance low-power MCUs and related technologies, new embedded phase-change flash FD-SOI technology, edge AI using innovative embedded flash CMOS technology architecture, innovative power electronics using GaN on silicon, smart optical sensors using advanced 3D integration technology, embedded AI, RF technology, and 5G and 6G chips.
