Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has further expanded its CIPOSMini family with the IM523 series of high-efficiency intelligent power modules (IPMs). The CIPOS IM523 series IPMs incorporate a variety of power and control devices to improve reliability, optimize PCB size and reduce system cost, and can be used to control three-phase motors in various low and medium power inverters, such as home appliances It can also be used to control three-phase motors in various low and medium power inverters, such as household appliances, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and industrial fans and drives up to 1.4KW.

The RCD2 IGBT combined with a fully functional silicon on insulator (SOI) gate driver reduces the power loss of the entire system. At the same time, a three-phase inverter configuration with an open emitter is integrated into a DIP 36x21 package, a packaging concept that is particularly suitable for power supply applications that require good thermal conduction and electrical isolation. This series of intelligent power modules offers lower switching losses in its class, enabling excellent system energy efficiency, especially for high switching frequency applications.
They are available in current ratings ranging from 6 A to 17 A with a breakdown voltage of 600 V. Built-in UL-listed NTC thermistors for temperature monitoring, integrated under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and over-current protection (OCP) further enhance system reliability. The packaging and molding materials used enhance its water and moisture resistance. The CIPOS IM523 series smart power modules are available in industry-standard packages, allowing for easy and fast design conversion to existing Mini IPMs (P2P) without PCB redesign, thus reducing time-to-market.
