Intel chip foundry wins seven major customers: NVIDIA has joined

        In Intel's IMD 2.0 strategy, which cost hundreds of billions of dollars, in addition to producing advanced process chips by itself, it also revived foundry, launched an IFS department to undertake chip foundry, and launched an internal foundry model before. Chip R & D and manufacturing also take this route, with great determination.
        For the chip foundry industry, technical capabilities are not the only factor in the decisive victory. How many customers are the key to deciding which step to take? Just like Samsung preempted the mass production of the 3nm process for half a year, and TSMC still won 3nm orders from companies such as Apple, AMD and NVIDIA. Which customers have Intel's IFS foundry business won? In the recent earnings report, the company revealed that they have signed 7 of the world's top 10 semiconductor design manufacturers. One of the customers has tested the 18A process for mass production in 2024, and the chip tapeout progress has been completed in the factory, which can be said to be very fast. But Intel did not mention who the seven major customers are, but the eenewseurope website simply made an analysis. After all, there are only a few TOP10 semiconductor core chip manufacturers.
        Among the TOP10 manufacturers, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Marvell and Cirri Logic are all chip companies headquartered in the United States. Americans help Americans, so it is normal for them to sign a contract with Intel for foundry cooperation. NVIDIA was also very interested in Intel foundry before, and now it has decided to join, but it is a project run by Intel for the Ministry of Defense. MediaTek has determined to use Intel foundry, and Realtek Electronics, a Taiwan chip company, can also follow in the footsteps of MediaTek and use Intel foundry.
        3 out of the top 10 manufacturers are unlikely to use Intel OEM. Among them, Lianyong and Weir are either because of the chip type or for other reasons, and it is almost impossible to use Intel OEM. Another less available manufacturer is AMD. After all, AMD's CPU, GPU, FPGA and other chip businesses compete directly with Intel. Just think about it and know that it is unlikely to be handed over to Intel OEM.
        However, even if the other seven companies join the Intel foundry camp, in fact, the current business volume is very limited, either the characteristic process or the advanced process foundry of 16nm and above is not much. So Intel's potential 18A process customers are more important. It depends on who is willing to be the soul of Intel. Significant others, just like TSMC vs Apple, achieve each other.
