Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has announced a partnership with Edge Impulse to extend micro machine learning-based AI development tools for PSoC™ 63 low-power Bluetooth® microcontrollers (MCUs). Artificial intelligence IoT application developers can now use the Edge Impulse Studio environment to build edge machine learning (ML) applications on the high-performance, low-power PSoC 63 low-power Bluetooth microcontroller.
The collaboration provides customers with additional flexibility and platform options for local development and configuration of machine learning applications in systems based on PSoC 63 low-power Bluetooth microcontroller devices that offer 150-MHz Arm® CPU performance, low-power connectivity and a rich suite of peripheral options. For example, the CY8CKIT-062-BLE Pioneer Kit with the E-Ink Display Module (CY8CKIT-028-EPD) includes an inertial measurement unit, microphone, and temperature sensor, which supports the use of AI models to process real-world data collected by sensors in systems optimized for low-power, low-cloud-cost edge IoT environments.

Infineon's PSoC 63 low-power Bluetooth microcontroller device utilizes a dual-core chip architecture based on the Arm® Cortex®-M4F and Arm Cortex-M0+, and integrates low-power Bluetooth 5.2, configurable voltage and frequency settings, built-in hardware security, and a cutting-edge capacitive interface on a single chip. As the only 150 MHz low-power Bluetooth microprocessor on the market, this Infineon PSoC device combines energy efficiency, small size, and programmability, making it a perfect fit for edge IoT applications that benefit from running advanced deep learning algorithms.
Edge Impulse's products simplify the process of collecting and building data sets, designing algorithms using pre-built building blocks, validating models using real-time data, and deploying fully optimized production-ready solutions in edge targets such as the PSoC 63 low-power Bluetooth microcontroller.
This collaboration with Edge Impulse on PSoC 63 low power Bluetooth microcontrollers enables Infineon's customers to launch solutions for embedded AI/ML use cases faster," said Shantanu Bhalerao, vice president of Infineon's Bluetooth product line. Infineon is committed to enabling our customers to develop their own AI/ML models or to adopt models from predefined model suites offered by Infineon or key Infineon partners. Infineon is very pleased to have Edge Impulse join our growing partner network and will continue to work with our wide range of AI/ML partners to expand our offerings."
Zach Shelby, CEO and co-founder of Edge Impulse, said, "With benefits such as advanced processing power and low power consumption, the PSoC 63 low-power Bluetooth microcontroller is ideal for a new generation of edge devices ranging from the smallest wearable to the largest industrial monitoring. With the Edge Impulse platform, embedded developers can more quickly develop and deploy a wide range of exciting and powerful machine learning application solutions at the edge."
