Recently, Intel issued two (1,2) Product Change Notices (PCNs) indicating that it will discontinue production of the Gemini Lake Refresh processor. This is a new product launched by Intel in 2019 for the Pentium and Celeron brands, typically found in entry-level or ultra-low-power desktops, laptops, mini PCs, and all-in-one consoles.

Gemini Lake first appeared in 2017, adopting the Goldmont+microarchitecture and not equipped with hyper threading. It has a maximum of four cores and is a replacement for the Apollo Lake processor. Intel subsequently launched the Gemini Lake Refresh in 2019, increasing the core frequency of TDP products for 6W and 10W. The J series has a TDP of 10W, targeting desktop computers, and the N series has a TDP of 6W, targeting mobile devices. Gemini Lake and Gemini Lake Refresh have been used together for a long time, but the former has been out of the market since 2020.
According to Intel's arrangement, customers can also place orders for Celeron J4025, Pentium Silver J5040, Celeron N4020C, and Celeron J4125 before August 25, 2023, as well as Celeron N4120, Celeron N4020, and Pentium Silver N5030 before November 24, 2023. Intel plans to ship the former before May 24, 2024, while the latter will ship before February 23, 2024.
With the elimination of Gemini Lake Refresh, Jasper Lake will become the default minimum configuration, adopting a new Tremont microarchitecture and 10nm process. The maximum number of cores is still 4, and the frequency is slightly higher, resulting in a 32% increase in IPC compared to previous products. Intel also has Elkhart Lake in the low-end market, which adopts Tremont microarchitecture and 10nm technology, focusing on various IoT devices.
