According to the news on November 1st, Intel released its financial data for the third quarter of 2024 in California, the United States local time yesterday. During this quarter, Intel achieved a total revenue of $13.3 billion (Note from IT Home: approximately 94.708 billion yuan currently). The revenue decreased by 6% year-on-year and increased by 4% quarter-on-quarter.
In the third quarter, Intel recognized $2.8 billion in restructuring charges and $15.9 billion in impairment charges, which are the major reasons for the net loss of $16.6 billion (approximately 118.207 billion yuan currently). As a result, the gross margin, operating margin, and net income per diluted share attributable to the parent company also suffered significant declines (for example, the non-GAAP gross margin dropped sharply by 27.8 percentage points to 18.0%).
Specifically, the $15.9 billion in impairment charges can be roughly divided into three parts:
$3.1 billion: Most of it is related to the accelerated depreciation of manufacturing assets at the Intel 7 process node;
$2.9 billion: Related to the impairment of goodwill and acquired intangible assets of reporting units such as Mobileye;
$9.9 billion: Related to the establishment of a valuation allowance for deferred income tax assets in the United States.
The revenue situations of Intel's major divisions in the third quarter are as follows:
CCG (Client Computing Group): $7.3 billion, down 9% year-on-year and 1% quarter-on-quarter;
DCAI (Data Center and AI Group): $3.3 billion, up 9% year-on-year and 11% quarter-on-quarter;
NEX (Network and Edge Group): $1.5 billion, up 4% year-on-year and 15% quarter-on-quarter;
Intel Foundry: $4.4 billion, down 8% year-on-year and 2% quarter-on-quarter;
Altera: $412 million, down 44% year-on-year and 14% quarter-on-quarter;
Mobileye: $485 million, down 8% year-on-year and 10% quarter-on-quarter.
In addition, the interdepartmental offset amount reached $4.3 billion, indicating that most of the revenue of Intel Foundry is still contributed by internal customers.
