Japan Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Sales Reached 3.5 Trillion Yen, down 5% Year-on-year

        In FY2022, sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment produced in Japan increased by 7% and sales of flat panel display manufacturing equipment decreased by 6%, with overall sales of 4.14 trillion yen, up 5.4% year-on-year. By FY2023, overall sales are expected to be 3.86 trillion yen, down 6.6% year-on-year, due to a downward trend in industry investment in semiconductors and flat-panel displays. By FY2024, sales of both semiconductor and flat panel display manufacturing equipment will increase significantly, by 20% and 50% respectively, with overall sales expected to be 4.74 trillion yen, up 22.8% year-on-year. 
        The Association expects sales of flat panel display manufacturing equipment produced in Japan to be 452 billion yen, down 6% year-on-year. By FY2023, the industry is expected to invest less in LCD on a large scale, with sales of flat panel display manufacturing equipment produced in Japan at 361 billion yen, down 20% year-on-year. For FY2024, sales of flat panel display manufacturing equipment produced in Japan are expected to reach 543 billion yen, up 50% year-on-year, driven by investment in OLEDs.
        Sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment produced in Japan are expected to reach 3.68 trillion yen in FY2022, up 7% YoY. Sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment produced in Japan are expected to reach 3.5 trillion yen in FY2023, down 5% YoY. For fiscal 2024, sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment produced in Japan are expected to reach 4.2 trillion yen, an increase of 20% year-on-year.
