Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ: LFUS), an industrial technology manufacturing company dedicated to powering a sustainable, connected and safer world, now announces the launch of its new 5.0SMDJxxS-HRA TVS diode family. These high-reliability TVS diodes are carefully designed, manufactured and screened to provide robust overvoltage protection with extremely low early failure rates and zero attenuation during continuous surge events.
Today's aircraft use more new composite materials, requiring a higher level of lightning protection for all electrical and electronic equipment. 5.0SMDJxxS-HRA is a family of high-reliability TVS diodes developed for aircraft subsystems to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients caused by lightning and other transient voltage events. In manufacturing high-reliability TVS diodes, Littelfuse employs a rigorous electronic component upgrade screening process to ensure enhanced robustness. They are available in a 5000W surface mount DO-214AB package with power densities up to 5 kW.
The 5.0SMDJxxS-HRA TVS diode family is suitable for applications requiring high reliability in harsh environments," said Charlie Cai, Littelfuse product marketing manager. "The 5.0SMDJxxS-HRA TVS diode family has a higher power rating (up to 5 kW) in the same compact surface mount package (the same as the previous solution), thus providing higher electronic protection performance and greater design flexibility. These upgraded and screened TVS diodes can help avionics designers meet demanding, high-grade regulatory requirements without increasing the size of the printed circuit board."
The 5.0SMDJxxS-HRA TVS diode family offers the following key benefits:
-Provides higher power ratings compared to other high-reliability TVS diode families, resulting in a 66% increase in surge handling capacity
-Utilizes high reliability design and upgraded screening processes for avionics and other demanding applications
-Extremely small JEDEC DO-214AB (SMC) package, combined with high power density (5 KW) characteristics, provides PC board designers with a more space-efficient option than existing solutions
-Meets DO-160 lightning protection regulatory requirements
-Provides extremely low clamp voltage and unlimited surge life
