        VirtualBox, reportedly developed by Oracle, is a popular free and open source virtual machine software that supports running virtual machines on Windows, macOS and Linux. This week, Oracle released VirtualBox 7.0. Not only does it bring a variety of new features and enhancements, but it also adds beta support for Apple Silicon Mac for the first time.
        When the first Apple Silicon Macs were announced in 2020, running virtual machines on these devices wasn't an easy task - especially when it came to Windows virtual machines.         With VirtualBox 7.0. Users can finally create and run virtual machines on Macs equipped with Apple Silicon chips, including Apple M1 and M2 chips.         However, it should be noted that this is still a beta-testing feature after all, and various bugs will inevitably appear in actual use. Users who mind can wait a little longer. In addition to adding support for M1/M2 chips, VirtualBox version 7.0 also brings other optimization updates. For example, virtual machines can now be fully encrypted, and DirectX 11 support has been added to get better 3D graphics while dropping support for older kernel extensions on macOS in favor of more modern APIs.
        But now, VirtualBox has released the download path of version 7.0 on the official website. If you are using the M1 or M2 chip, you need to download the Arm60 Mac Developer Preview.
