MathWorks, Inc. and Infineon Technologies AG recently announced the availability of a hardware support package for MathWorks Simulink products designed to support Infineon's AURIX?TC4x family of automotive microcontrollers. The hardware support package enables automotive engineers to design advanced electric vehicle, sensor fusion and radar signal processing functions even before silicon is available. With the hardware support package, engineers can verify use cases, quickly and automatically generate embedded software and test algorithms.

Our AURIX TC4x family of microcontrollers will bring unmatched real-time functional safety and cybersecurity to our customers," said Marco Cassol, director of product marketing for microcontrollers for ADAS, chassis and electrical and electronic architecture applications at Infineon Technologies. MathWorks' model-based design capabilities, which are widely used in the industry, enable engineers to start software development earlier, before silicon is available, and accelerate development through automated code generation. This also means shorter time to market for new products, and the resulting benefits can greatly help our customers succeed."
The close collaboration with Infineon will help our mutual customers accelerate the development of electric vehicle systems," said Jim Tung, MathWorks Fellow. Engineers can handle complex systems while managing risk and improving their understanding of system-level behavior, continuous verification and the digital backbone of compliance. We are proud to be able to contribute in these areas to make cars cleaner, more efficient and more reliable."
MathWorks' partnership with Infineon can provide automotive engineers with the power to empower the development of electric vehicles and driver assistance features, simplifying the increasingly complex automotive system development process. Model-based design using MATLAB and Simulink allows embedded systems to be developed and verified 30 to 40 percent faster than traditional methods. With this in mind, the seamless support provided by Infineon automotive microcontrollers can create value for engineers and researchers.
This is the result of a series of collaborations undertaken between Infineon and MathWorks. In addition, the two companies have recently incorporated SPICE models of Infineon OptiMOS? 5 MOSFET devices into the physical modeling environment of MathWorks' Simscape? software as a way to speed up design and efficiently control motors for powertrain and cooling systems, pumps and other automotive control functions to improve efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.
