MICLEDI and foundry IQE collaborate to manufacture red microLED modules for AR glasses

        Recently, compound semiconductor wafer and material solutions provider IQE announced a partnership with microdisplay technology company MICLEDI to develop microLED solutions for AR glasses. MICLEDI is said to be a waferless semiconductor design and technology company focused on developing high performance MicroLED display modules for AR glasses that can be fabricated on 200mm and 300mm wafers.
 
 
        As we know, compared to more mature LED technology, the manufacturing process for MicroLEDs has not yet been standardised and the chip structure is more complex than traditional LEDs, with the entire manufacturing process consisting of multiple stages. There are multiple processes for manufacturing MicroLEDs on the market, so MICLEDI is also looking for different solutions, for example, it has previously worked with QustomDot to manufacture high resolution, high brightness, full colour MicroLED panels based on the quantum dot process.
        In the partnership between IQE and MICLEDI, IQE will provide a 200mm manufacturing platform that can mass produce red MicroLED screens, and claims that the manufacturing process is scalable and easy to commercialise.
