Vishay (NYSE: VSH) announced the introduction of the MRTI5R5EZ, a new resonant transformer for inductor-inductor-capacitor applications with transformers and integrated inductors in a single package. 5.5 kW Vishay Custom Magnetics MRTI5R5EZ saves PCB space while simplifying layout and reducing The 5.5 kW Vishay Custom Magnetics MRTI5R5EZ saves PCB space while simplifying layout and reducing the number of mounted devices required, with fully adjustable magnetization and leakage inductance and small parasitic parameters.
The recently released device is the first transformer to utilize an auxiliary intermediate transformer branch to form the resonant inductor portion of the circuit. Other devices require additional cores to achieve the same function. This unique structure not only saves space, but also simplifies design by eliminating the need for interconnections or jumpers between the resonant inductor and transformer windings.

The MRTI5R5EZ is suitable for automotive chargers as well as industrial control, solar inverter, defense, avionics and construction equipment half/full bridge resonant power transformers. In addition to customizable turns ratios for these applications, transformer losses can be shifted from the core to the coil as needed for superior performance and heat dissipation, while excellent parasitic parameters optimize capacitor selection.
The devices operate from 100 kHz to 350 kHz, are rated from 4 kW to 6 kW, have input voltages from 400 V to 800 V, and are rated at 28 A. The MRTI5R5EZ is rated at 2500 V. The transformer includes a bracket for cold plate mounting, with either raised or flush mounting options. The transformer comes standard with M4 ring connectors, customizable lead lengths and connector types, and provides devices with thermally conductive spacers for fixed surfaces.
The MRTI5R5EZ is available in sample and volume production with a 4-week sample lead time and a 16 to 20 week volume production lead time.
