Nexperia's Ultra-Low Junction Capacitance ESD Protection Diodes Protect Automotive Data Interfaces

        Nexperia, a specialist in high-volume production of basic semiconductor devices, today announced the expansion of its portfolio of ultra-low capacitance ESD protection diodes. The family of devices is designed to protect high-speed data lines for interfaces such as USB, HDMI, high-speed video links and Ethernet in automotive infotainment applications. 
 
 
        This addition includes the PESD18VF1BLS-Q, PESD24VF1BLS-Q, PESD30VF1BLS-Q, and PESD32VF1BLS-Q, all available in the DFN1006BD-2 package, which can be optically detected in automotive production lines by side-crawling tin. In addition, the PESD18VF1BBL-Q, PESD24VF1BBL-Q and PESD30VF1BBL-Q are available in a compact DFN1006-2 package option. To improve electrical performance and signal integrity while supporting the need for miniaturization in automotive designs, all versions are available in pinless packages. 
        Electrostatic discharge (ESD) diodes protect critical electronic systems and subsystems by dissipating the high energy of an electrostatic discharge. This protects critical SOCs (system-on-chips) and other devices from damage during an ESD event. Adding other devices to high-speed data lines can result in degrading the signal integrity of the transmitted data. Therefore, the proper selection of devices that protect the system and do not impede signal transmission is critical for modern high-speed automotive systems. nexperia has a long history of market dominance and deep expertise in delivering superior ESD protection solutions. nexperia has taken into account the needs of both the design engineer and the automotive system by providing a combination of ultra-low junction capacitance (typical values are as low as 0.28 pV) and low capacitance (typical values are as low as 0.5 pV) in this product portfolio. Nexperia has taken the needs of design engineers and automotive systems into consideration and has achieved excellent signal integrity in this portfolio through ultra-low device junction capacitance (as low as 0.28 pF typical) and higher cutoff voltages (18-32 V), which can be placed closer to the connector. For design flexibility, these diodes are available with or without side solder creep, which facilitates automated optical inspection (AOI). 
        Compliant with AEC-Q101 automotive grade standards, these devices combine ultra-deep springback characteristics with low 0.8 Ω dynamic resistance to enhance system-level robustness and clamp performance in high-speed data interfaces.
