Nvidia is designing PC chips based on Arm architecture, which will be sold as early as 2025

        October  news, chip giant Nvidia dominated the artificial intelligence (AI) computing chip market. Now, it is launching a new challenge for Intel in the field of personal computers.
 
 
        Nvidia is quietly using technology from UK chip designer Arm to design Central Processors (CPUs) that run Microsoft's Windows operating system, according to people familiar with the matter. The chips will challenge Intel's processors in personal computers, intensifying competition between the two semiconductor makers.
        Nvidia's move is part of Microsoft's plan to help chip companies build arm-length processors for Windows PCs. Microsoft's plan is aimed directly at Apple. The company's market share has nearly doubled in three years since Apple paired its Mac computers with its own Arm-based chips, according to preliminary third-quarter data compiled by market research firm IDC.
        AMD also plans to make PC chips using Arm technology, according to two people familiar with the matter. Nvidia and AMD could sell PC chips as early as 2025, a person familiar with the matter said. The two companies will join Qualcomm, which has been making Arm-based chips for laptops since 2016.   At an event on Tuesday, Qualcomm plans to reveal more details of a flagship chip designed by a team of former Apple engineers, according to people familiar with the matter. Executives such as Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft's vice president for Windows and devices, will be in attendance.
        Nvidia shares closed up 3.84% after the plan came to light, while Intel shares closed down 3.06%. Arm shares closed up 4.89%.
