On Tuesday, October 8, at the "AI Summit DC" artificial intelligence summit in Washington, D.C., executives of "AI darling" Nvidia said that its next-generation Blackwell chip will be shipped to customers in the fourth quarter of this year and has excellent energy efficiency.

Nvidia: The Blackwell platform is basically built with energy efficiency in mind. Nvidia also has many software services.

Bob Pette, vice president and general manager of enterprise platforms at Nvidia, said, "The Blackwell platform is basically built with energy efficiency in mind." Developing OpenAI's GPT-4 software on Blackwell requires 3 gigawatts of power. Ten years ago, this process required up to 5500 gigawatts of power. Some analysts say that the artificial intelligence computing boom has raised concerns about power usage.

In a keynote speech titled "The Transformative Power of Accelerated Computing and Artificial Intelligence," the above executive introduced how Nvidia's accelerated computing platform can provide breakthrough performance in the next wave of fields such as AI, sensor processing, digital twins, network security, and autonomous systems.

He also highlighted Nvidia's artificial intelligence software services and various software platforms. Some analysts say that selling software is part of Nvidia's strategy, aiming to ensure that customers not only seek the company's hot AI chip processors but also bring a source of recurring income other than hardware sales. By showcasing software, Nvidia hopes to prove that it is more than just a chip company.

Tuesday's AI summit event sent Nvidia's stock price up as much as 4.1% in early trading to the highest level in three months since July 11. Nvidia has risen for five consecutive days, and its market value has reached $3.2 trillion. On Monday, it surpassed Microsoft to become the second largest company in the world by market value after Apple.

In the past month, Nvidia's stock price has been in an upward channel and has rebounded more than 28% from the low since September 6 when it was reported that the U.S. Department of Justice was seeking to investigate it. This is mainly due to the fact that company CEO Jensen Huang and various partners have promoted that the next-generation AI chip Blackwell has "crazy demand."

On Tuesday, Nvidia's chip foundry Hon Hai Group confirmed that it is building the world's largest GB200 production facility in Mexico, which is seen by the market as evidence of strong long-term demand for Blackwell chips.

Nvidia: It is "leading" the expansion of the use of AI technology to more fields and laying the foundation for a new industrial revolution, and it is especially likely to change the healthcare industry.

In terms of software progress, according to Nvidia executives' introduction today, the company has multiple AI software platforms such as Nvidia NIM Agent Blueprints, NIM, and NeMo. Among them, NIM Agent Blueprints is designed to help enterprises develop generative AI applications. NIM can quickly combine chatbots and AI assistants, and NeMo provides enterprises with a method to build custom generative AI models.

From American telecom giant AT&T, international accounting firm Deloitte, artificial intelligence and machine learning software service provider Quantiphi, to scientific research institutions such as the National Cancer Institute of the United States and the SETI Institute for searching for extraterrestrial intelligence, they are all using Nvidia's software technology to help employees complete software development and network engineering tasks, and even look for signs of extraterrestrial life.

For example, AT&T is collaborating with Quantiphi to create a conversational AI platform to assist employees in completing software development and financial services tasks. The University of Florida in the United States uses Nvidia's NIM and NeMo platforms to improve the learning management system for teaching assistants. Deloitte uses Nvidia's NIM Agent Blueprint together with its own cybersecurity products. The National Cancer Institute uses it to help reduce the time and cost of developing new drug molecules. The SETI Institute uses Nvidia's Holoscan software toolkit to develop software for receiving and analyzing radio waves from space.

At the same time, Nvidia has also partnered with Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh to establish two new AI technology community centers. The "Nvidia Center for Robotics, Autonomy, and AI" jointly established with Carnegie Mellon University will provide students, teachers, and researchers with technologies related to robotics and autonomy. The "AI and Intelligent Systems Center" in cooperation with the University of Pittsburgh will focus on AI for health sciences.

In addition, on Tuesday, Google announced that Nvidia's Nvidia Nim is available on the Google Kubernetes engine, and TSMC is using Nvidia's computational lithography platform Culitho for production.

Nvidia executives said that it is "leading" the expansion of the use of AI technology to more fields and laying the foundation for a new industrial revolution. This initiative also includes finding more customized uses for artificial intelligence.

On the contrary, people need a smaller artificial intelligence model customized for specific purposes. This software is part of Nvidia's continuously expanding series of products and services. The overall goal is to help the company more easily integrate everything needed to use artificial intelligence."

This executive specifically mentioned that artificial intelligence is especially likely to change the healthcare industry. And Nvidia has been preparing for this transformation by developing the drug research and development business over the past decade.

Morgan Stanley's latest research report is optimistic about the revenue-generating potential of Blackwell's strongest chip. Nvidia expects increased production to start in the fourth quarter and continue until 2026.

Mainstream investment bank Morgan Stanley also released a research report on the same day, expressing optimism about the potential boost to the company's revenue from Blackwell's next-generation strongest chip in the last few months of this year and suggesting that Blackwell's production will exceed that of the existing Hopper chip as early as the beginning of next year.

Another analyst also released a bullish research report on Nvidia on Monday. Ben Reitzes, an analyst at Melius Research, said that although Nvidia's stock price has experienced a long-term rebound, "the current situation is still quite good."

Nvidia's chief financial officer Colette Kress had expected in August that the company's fourth fiscal quarter ending in January next year will ship Blackwell chips worth billions of dollars. Nvidia also recently said that it has made changes to the Blackwell GPU mask to improve production yield. The increased production plan will start in the fourth quarter and continue until fiscal year 2026.
