Q1 China Chips: Import Amount Down 26.7%, Import Quantity Down 22.9%

        Recently, the General Administration of Customs announced the national import key commodities volume and value table in March 2023. The data therein show that in March this year, the import and export quantities of Chinese IC products were 40.61 billion and 23.65 billion respectively, and the total import and export values were 30.672 billion USD and 13.105 billion USD.
        Cumulatively for the first three months of 2023 (January-March 2023), China's IC imports have declined both in terms of quantity and total value.
        In terms of quantities, China imported 108.19 billion IC products in the first three months of this year, down 22.9% year-on-year from 140.29 billion in the same period of 2022; and exported 60.91 billion ICs, down 13.5% year-on-year from 70.4 billion in 2022.
In terms of total amount, from January to March, the total value of China's chip imports fell 26.7% to $78.499 billion from $107.124 billion last year; the total value of exports also fell 17.6% to $31.733 billion from $38.506 billion last year.
